Beachey’s Grave in Cypress Lawn Cemetery

Colma, CA (just south of San Francisco)

Take 280 or 380 south and get off at Serramonte Blvd. Turn left, going Down the hill. Curvy & congested. At the bottom of the hill is El Camino Real. (K Mart on your corner). Turn right (south) and very quickly (1/10th of a mile?) you will see CYPRESS Lawn Cemetery offices on your right. Get in the LEFT lane and when you see CYPRESS LAWN written in the lawn on the left, get in the left turn lane and turn left. You can easily see the duck ponds and the old stone archway as the gateway to the sacred grounds. This is the last Victorian graveyard in America, beautiful in the old style with extravagance matched by elegance.

Beachey Grave is in Section D, as indicated in the map. (look on the left side, about 35% up from the bottom and see a star with an arrow pointing to “under” the circle of the cross). The grave lies there, at the foot of a giant palm. Also this map shows the "STATE HIGHWAY" (El Camino Real), the pond and the archway.
